Going into this book, I was looking for a heartwarming, light-ish read with some humor, an adorable romance, sweet treats (of course), yet still having some substance. But...this book...while I loved certain elements of it (again, sweet treats), and some of the writing was beautifully expressive and evocative, overall, this plot, this romance, this dialogue (UGH, the dialogue!!!), and almost everything that happens in this book...was so silly and over-the-top, I thought my eyes would roll out of my head.

I'm not trying to be scathing here -- I really did appreciate the messages of sticking it out with the one you choose to be with and overcoming obstacles and fighting for your loved ones and building a family with honesty, but...that didn't make up for the parts that had me groaning for the end of the book. And seriously, holy bad dialogue overload, Batman.

There was just too much effort made to make these characters supposedly charming, funny, and "sexy", which, I'm sorry, was soooo cheap to me. Ugh, the attempts at weird sexual tension were such overkill, I almost put the book down at least eight times for that alone. And maybe that makes me an uptight jerkwad...and if so, that's fine. I accept that.

Although this book was only partly enjoyable for me (once I readjusted my expectations, the things that drove me crazy initially became somewhat easier to endure), I will try out the next book in this little series. You can't win them all, and that's okay.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to review this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This had such potential. The first mistake was spending SO much time building up the sexual tension only to fade to black every single time. The second was turning the second half of this book into a completely different tone with
Spoilera surprise pregnancy.
. I despise this trope. DESPISE. The last mistake was them actually ending up together in the end. She should have been strong enough to not need a man in her life.
The most random part was when her father called to tell her she was an embarrassment to the family, bringing shame to the family name, and she must come home immediately. What? She's a BAKER. She's running a successful bakery. Wtf??
The title fits because this book was a mess and eye-roll inducingly sweet.

sorry.... 3/10, dnf. I was on board until we met Landon and then his inner voice was incredibly aggravating and the whole set up for this is just painfully contrived. oh boo hoo his one night stand is the owner of the bakery he just eviscerated now he feels bad. (and i am NOT unaware of the irony of me here leaving a negative review on a first glance lol. but i am a nobody)

This is really more of a 2.5 stars for me. It was ok. The author’s passion for food was obvious throughout and everything sounded delicious. But the characters fell flat for me; I just didn’t find myself swept up in the story. In addition, I encountered my least favourite plot device and by then, I was skimming through the pages.

The book started strong and had a lot of potential. Because of that, I’d still check out future offerings from the author.

I really was not a fan of this book. It took FOREVER to get going, the dialogue was cringy, and the writing was way too flowery. It felt like the author used the Thesaurus feature of Microsoft Word to keep adding unnecessary adjectives. It especially bothered me in the dialogue because nobody actually talks like that!! I had high hopes for the concept and was very disappointed.

Eh, this one didn't do it for me. The insta-love storylines are never my favorite, and I just couldn't get myself to like Landon. Aubrey was a total gem, and I LOVED her, but I found Landon so arrogant that I had trouble rooting for them.

Fun contemporary romance set in the food world. Started really strong, but fizzled a bit at the end. Recommended for romance readers.

I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. I found that had to push myself to finish the book. I didn’t fall in love with any of the characters. The chemistry wasn’t there between the main characters, imo. Plus, it was in third person… not my favorite to read.
