I think this is a great introduction to The Holocaust for younger kids. It also allows them to read about some of the heroes who worked to keep Jewish people safe during this time such as Oskar Schindler which I’m guessing many children do not know about.

Okay, so what shocked me was that this was a true story. Seriously! All the characters were real and...well so was Rena! It was awesome and I could not put it down.

Beautifully written story from one of Schindler’s rescued children. It’s a heartbreaking account, of course, but written specifically to young people in hopes that we never let this part of our past repeat itself.

I definitely read this in like an hour but it is amazing. It really puts more perspective on the Holocaust which is such a serious and solemn topic. I really appreciate how at the end she encourages people to stand up for what they believe in and that they can make a difference in the world. Definitely a sad yet encouraging book.

Reading about the Holocaust is never easy, but this memoir does an age appropriate coverage that I wouldn't mind handing to my older elementary student. May we never forget.

This nonfiction account of Rena's journey will take you on her journey, as she tries to understand all that transpires to her, her family, her friends... and the good fortune she has becoming one of those on "Schindler's List."
