The style of Corpus Delicti sounds profound and important at first glance. If it had been counterweighted with meaningful simplicity, maybe it would have impressed me. But 264 pages of this? No, thank you. This book is exhausting, impersonal and artificial.

As a consequence, the story doesn't have any room to breathe and I didn't have time to develop any feelings towards the characters. It also didn't help that almost nobody in this book talked like a goddamn person. Maybe the style was supposed to echo the allegedly 'enlightened' but empty propaganda of the Method. Maybe that's a nuance I missed. I'll never know because I'm certainly not reading this again. It's baffling to me how you can make a dystopia so boring.

To me, this book falls into the 'Joan of Arc' category - great ideas, terrible execution.

Ahh reading slump, war ganz nice das Buch, aber hat mich auch nicht vor Reading Slump gerettet, also kann es auch nicht so krass besonders gewesen sein.
Aber sehr interessante Gedankengänge und sowieso Pluspunkt für eine Dystopie.

Gerade jetzt in Zeiten von Covid-19 relevant.
Mir hat aber auch etwas Vorgeschichte gefehlt. Wie kam es zu dieser neuen Gesellschaft.
Manches wurde nur beiläufig erwähnt. Wie der Chip im Arm und die ewigen Kontrollen (wie in The Circle).
Ein Prequel wäre gefällig.

Juli Zeh schreibt einen Roman auf Grundlage eines Theaterstücks - das merkt man. Ihre sarkastische, spitze Art zieht sich durch den Roman und untermauert intensiv und auffällig ihre eigene Haltung. Dies schadet dem Roman. Dieser behandelt nämlich durchaus spannende Blickwinkel und dystopische Gedanken, sprachlich jedoch ist das Buch auf einem zwischenzeitlich sehr schlechten Niveau. Der Abstrich zwischen Originalausgabe und Übersetzung in andere Sprachen dürfte gering sein…
Ich empfehle den Roman dennoch zu lesen, da er interessante Themen aufwirft die durch das Coronavirus an Relevanz und Diskussion gewonnen haben und besonders weil er zum reflektieren und diskutieren anregt - auch wenn man zwischenzeitlich ganz stark bereut es angefangen zu haben.

Einfach ein offenes Ende was ich ja HASSE. Like warum ich lese das buch doch nicht um mir ein eigenes Ende auszudenken. Es war manchmal schon lustig und schlau aber ich hab mich immer in die Irre geführt gefühlt v.a. mit der Mia und Kramer storyline und dann erfahre ich dass der bereits Frau und Kinder hat!
