Phenomenal art accompanies a bland story.

Man, this started great. The first few issues looked and felt the classic Green Arrow that we haven't seen in a while. After that though it went downhill into that bloated, convoluted territory of recent years. Hears hoping it finds it's footing.

We discussed this run, plus the Green Arrow's complicated history in a special episode of the All the Books Show: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-233-green-arrow

I quite enjoyed this. This is similar to how the show has been in recent seasons. So spoilers I guess for the show?? Having Oliver with Dinah is a little weird though.
Sidenote: I was totally picturing. Charlie Hunnam as Oliver.

I really liked this. It's my first real comic ever, so I may be a little biased. I loved that it was set in Seattle, Wa which I'm from (near there) and I didn't know that's where the comics took place. I've watched the whole cw show and still am and this made me think about wanting to read more of the green arrow saga. Can not wait for more!

My first Green Arrow run. It started good and then got a little boring by the end. I must say I don't like Emi's character. It made me interested in reading the rest though.

3.5 stars.

This had a really promising start but it kind of waned a little as it reached its conclusion.

This is the first Green Arrow book I've read. I was very intrigued by the the first Rebirth issue because I like the idea of Ollie as an unapologetic Social Justice Warrior. It actually didn't come across as pretentious and douchey the way Marvel Netflix's Danny Rand does and I believe Oliver here. My friends know I couldn't get through more than seven episodes of CW's Arrow (or Error as we like to call it) but Percy's Oliver Queen is a character I can sink my teeth into. (Not literally of course although he really is quite gorgeous here).

This Ollie is protective over the downtrodden, doesn't make excuses for screwing people over and he's good at what he does. He has an actual personality and he's funny at times. I really liked him and I'm psyched to read more about him. I especially liked his relationships with Emi, Henry and Diggle.

I adore Dinah Lance in most things I've read but it seems she followed Babs suit here because I'm not a fan of Rebirth Dinah either. Her reactions to things were all over the place and it was honestly confusing. The Dinah I love reaches for what she wants. I just don't know if I think she would say some of the syrupy things this Dinah says like telling Ollie "It's up to you to not let me go". I will say, I can buy her making fun of him and kicking ass to avenge him. That was definitely in character.

I've never read anything with this Emi character but I really like her. I hope there's more of her in the next part.

It's hard to explain where this lagged for me. I enjoyed the action sequences a lot! Ollie's break in was really well done. The chase into the street was awesome! It just doesn't feel like a 4 star book because even with those great elements, I never got back up to that feeling I had at the beginning of this book. Maybe if I knew more about the character some of this would have more significance and this would be rated higher for me? I don't know but it's definitely a good book. Just not 4 or 5 stars for me.

The art and colors in this book were gorgeous! I've never seen Schmidt and Ferreya's work before but it was lovely.

I'm excited to read the next part!

I may be a little biased in that after reading so many Superman books, it was nice to read about a different hero for a change. As a fan of the TV show, it was cool to be introduced to the characters in the comic books. (I had liked Green Arrow as a kid, but I remember only the barest of essentials from that period). In fact, i thought the plot took a back seat behind the characters' interactions, which is something not often encountered in super hero comic books. Though one or two transitions seemed kind of abrupt in my opinion but they were not totally unexpected. I look forward to continuing the series.

Pretty strong Green Arrow story. Foregrounding the tension between Ollie's identity as a millionaire and a liberal superhero was a strong base to a story that really distinguishes him from the Batman. As does the fact that Oliver seems to be a pretty incompetent businessman (I love that this aspect of Ollie's character helps drive the story rather than doing violence to my suspension of disbelief.)

I was really surprised by how much enjoyed this comic but couldn't help but compare it to the Arrow tv show where I got into the green arrow.
