Super creepy book about a group of women who encounter the unthinkable on a river rafting trip that goes horribly wrong. It was definitely scary when reading late at night. I recommend it if you are looking for a good thriller.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this movie and read this book at least fifteen times before. Completely unoriginal in plot, setting, characters, and not done well enough to make that okay. Seems like a cheap toss-in trying to ride on the current trend of modern thrillers.

Wonderfully captivating with expert descriptions of the developing dynamics of adult female friendships. The author takes time to detail the foreboding progression before their arrival to the lodge and even depicts a few hostile locals who seem to be a lot worse than friendly. Unfortunately these locals never return in the story and I think that was a missed opportunity. I also would have liked to know how Rory’s dad felt at the end and whether he took any of the blame for putting four unsuspecting women in harms way. One star off for not tying up what could have been worthwhile plot ends.

only picked this up because it's set in Maine and Cambridge. reminds me a lot of that film River Wild. bad things happen. it was good enough that I wanted to keep reading but not so good that i couldn't put it down. an easy read.
bothered me that author referred to University of Maine, Orono as University of Orono.

There were a lot of missed opportunities in the telling of this story. It has a great premise but the author dropped the ball in expanding the story line completely. Turned out to be a pretty boring read where none of the characters were fully developed.

This adventure story was written with the foreboding consequences obvious from the first chapter. I am not a good predictor of what's going to happen in a novel, but by the time they hit the river, I could have given you the rest of the plot. All this book confirmed for me is that I'm probably not going to participate in any white-water rafting soon. Especially in backwoods nowhere.
This book was given to be by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was truly awful, honestly on the verge of insulting. I recycled the book after reading as I wouldn't wish that suffering on anyone. The characters were predictable and cliched sublots were haphazardly and randomly thrown into the mix without any development. The plot was half-assed and quickly wrapped up at the end. The main character was a spineless irritant.

0'5 stars.
I didn't like this. at. all.
Characters were flat, they were grown-up women in their 40s who sometimes acted like children.
I didn't get the motive why they wanted to kill the female main characters. Like...Okay, whatever, I guess?
I found the story boring af.
