Book7 OWLs readathon: Retelling
That was a ride . The book size intimidated me a little but it wasn't boring for my good luck. The world was interesting and the writing style was easy to follow.I loved that the book went in unique direction not the typical trope that was expected. The book wasn't romance heavy and that was liberating it.The Refuge was a good addition to the world.
The book didn't have shocking plot twists and that was strange. I was waiting from something to happen but every thing was easily expected. That didn't mean there wasn't some twists but they were late and not that shocking.
Little note:The part with describing the dead bodies was just gross and not necessary. It annoyed me.
Characters:
Chatine,
I hated her although her plot was very interesting.I hated how she was ashamed of being a girl. Thar frusssstrated me . She was hiding being a girl but when Marcellus didn't see her, she was angry. She did wrong stupid stuff. I saw reason in some of them but the others no .She was selfish and ugly.
Alouette,
I liked her character . She was curious and she was strong . I loved that about her.I loved how her character had evolved .I loved her father especially near the end.
Marcellus,
He had a great potential and I loved him but I think the author couldn't draw him well enough. He had an important rule and He held a strong part of the world and its conflicts. The problem was that some of his acts didn't make sense to me as
didn't make sense..Over all he was a good character and I am interested to see where his character will go.
I think it was a great beginning to series and if it continued as the last 200 pages, the next book will be 5 stars. The things that didn't make this part a five were:
- The book wasn't fast paced enough for my test
- Chatine

Ok I’m putting this at DNF for now. I’m hoping to come back to it, but it was too dragged out for me. I was hoping the Les Mis retelling would be more fast paced. I WILL finish it eventually and give an updated review.

1st Read(12:57pm): I have no words for how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could not put it down for the life of me. This quite honestly has become one of my top favorite books of all time now. I’ve read the first book of the lunar chronicles series and this book reminded me so much of how I had enjoyed that book as well. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and ultimately devour that one as well.
