I was on Hoopla looking for a graphic novel to read and the cover to this got me. I'm all for seeing people of color in graphic novels. This was cute and fun to read. A diverse group of women that live in a town where an 80s movie was filmed. Shows how fans of the movie "The Gloomies" which of course will make you think of The Goonies come through the town and only want to see memorabilia from the movie and disrespect the rest of the place. I love me some Macy who is quick to speak her mind and seems like a free spirit and there is another character who is all about getting money (can't remember her name). I can't wait to read #2 when it comes out because the ladies will be looking for treasure. This is gonna be good.

Such a cute comic. It feels very pumpkinheads vibe. I love that they pay tribute to the goodies. It makes my heart so happy because I love the movie so much! I love the art style as well. An all girls goonies is what I needed in my life. Canβt wait to read them all!

Confession: I do not have 80s nostalgia. I don't really care about The Goonies. I mean I remember seeing it and enjoying it as a kid but that's it. Being a fat kid, it was hard watching another be the butt of the joke.
But, I loved the art and it was in a Humble Bundle. I read it, I enjoyed it, I'll finish it in Vol. 2. There's been no fat jokes or problematic shit. It's not all white people.
I love the cynical, bored, ordinary girl teens with their attitudes. They've got understandable edge that doesn't come off as fake and trying too hard like when some adults write them. πππ

I don't know if I'm seeing Gravity Falls everywhere or is the cover and credits look like it's from there, not that I'm complaining.
I don't know if this is a keeper, but I'm surely not jumping to the next issue so soon.
