This was an odd read... The concept is beyond anything that I would ever have thought of! It was a good book; I finished it! But I do not think that I would re-read it.

This was the first proper "grown up" book I read at an age of 13. I thought it was so exciting and read it several times.

Pretty typical Robin Cook. Unfortunately this one was a little too easy to figure out, so finishing it wasn't as enjoyable. His books are definitely in the casual, easy to pick up and put down category for me.

found this in a little free library. kinda dumb premise and the writing was not compelling but it was nice to turn my brain off for a bit and read something easy and somewhat interesting

This was a good book and I didn't want to put it down. I understand that Cook's genre is a sort of medical sci-fi and so therefore you have to suspend belief sometimes, but I've read other books by Cook that seemed very believable in present day circumstances and that's what I've loved in general, and this book seemed very far fetched given our current technology. So it's a wonderful foray into an imaginary place where we actually harness what seems like demigod powers over human DNA and fertility, but the lack of a feeling like this might happen tomorrow I suppose is what ultimately turned me off and maybe that's just me being overly critical.

Furthermore as other reviewers have mentioned, much of it did seem predictable, although anyone who says they predicted everything that happens in the last 100 pages is most likely lying. I can't imagine predicting all of those events. The interplay between Victor and Marsha is a wonderful demonstration of ethical and personal issues that can arise from genetic modifications and genetic engineering. Overall, this book is a very worthwhile read and I love Cook, moving on to another of his books called Chromosome 6.

Hands down, one of the best books I've read in quite a while. The suspense is intriguing and you'll find yourself flipping pages after pages to know and read more.
