Death comes for us all. It is the sole equalizer. No one has escaped it so far, and yet for many, it is the most feared of unknowns.
Im more afraid of running into my mother in law at the supermarket but that's just me.
This is a series of hilarious, sobering, introspective, humiliating, and gross aspects of the funerary business. There were times when I was reading this, I needed a hug (I was at the car dealership so not the best time) and times I couldn't wait to tell the story over dinner ("The keys were in the hearse and her shirt said 'Got Formaldehyde!!' or come on, if that's not funny you MUST be dead inside....")
I came out of this feeling better as a person, comforted in knowing that when death actually comes for me...
...someone is going to tip my gurney into a busy street and dump my body two feet short of the truck at 2am during a snowstorm.
It's gonna be an absolute blast.

This was a fun collection of short stories. None of the stories took more than 5 mins to read which I can appreciate. I found myself saying more often than not, “just one more”. Some of the stories didn’t add much to the book as a whole, and some really gave a better appreciation for the mortuary business and how emotionally heavy it can be. Overall, I enjoyed my time reading this— had some laughs and some tears.

This compilation of stories from the funeral industry just didn't strike a cord with me. I found it to be poorly written and the stories were often ones that I think would have been best kept to social hour at a mortuary worker's convention. I got 3/4 of the way through and decided that it wasn't worth spending the time to finish it.

The first few stories in this book weren't great...a bit trite, a bit stereotypical. I began to regret my purchase. But as the book progressed, the insight and irony inherent in working in the death industry really began to shine. Probably liked the ghost story best of all. Overall, an entertaining read.

This book was a light-hearted read full of funny adventures that have been experienced by undertakers. It was a nice break from some of my recent books. I enjoyed reading this book.

The tales in Mortuary Confidential were definitely interesting. Some of the stories were humorous and some touching. I'd thought the book was supposed to be hilarious and I wouldn't quite classify it as such, but it was a good read.

Not that great. Supposed to be essays from a bunch of contributors but it is all written in one author's style. Kind of interesting stories.

After my grandmother's death last year, and after being around so many deceased people, I've been interested in Mortuary Science. So I decided to download some books that had to do with mortuary science and of course, real life situations. This book was definitely filled with quirky and funny moments, and a lot of the stories also hit home. Losing my grandmother was one of the hardest things I have ever been through and honestly it still affects me. After reading through all the situations these undertaker's go through, I must say....It sounds very interesting to me, and I wouldn't mind opening my own funeral home someday. Another thing that kind of pushed me to pursue this career is when I saw my grandmother at the funeral the day of her wake, I wasn't satisfied with how she was prepped. She had false teeth in the bottoms and since they had to take them out, they stuffed her mouth and it looked a little bit over done. And I thought maybe I should pursue this career so I can make the loved ones of the deceased satisfied with the caring of their loved one. I know I would never want someone else to feel that way.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I definitely see myself doing some of the clumsy antics some of the undertaker's went through. lol.
Besides, it's a lot easier dealing with the dead than the living.
EDIT: If you must, read chapters 6 and 20. Chapter 6 is called: "Grandma Talk Talk" and Chapter 20 is called: " Never go to bed angry".
These chapters are so important because they teach us how to value those that care about us, it shows you to never take for granted those that love you, because one day it will be too late.
