I remember seeing this book on my For You Page a while ago and was super intrigued by the blurb!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. The ways in which Caitlin Doughty explores different cultural death rituals is endlessly fascinating and weird (although of course she calls out our reactions to them) 👏🏼

I got my dad a copy of the book too, because I thought he’d enjoy it too 💖

4 out of 5 stars for me, thank you ✨ Content warnings below!

This was a reread for me, and I will DEFINITELY read it again. This is an insightful look into some of the death rituals around the world, and leaves the reader thinking about how we are all so connected by life's inevitable end and the care we give our loved ones. It is insightful, informative, and I couldn't put it down.

Caitlin takes the reader across the global to examine how humanity processes and holds space for death. With her detailed description of the cultural rituals held surrounding death, I felt more comfortable to talk about my experience with grieving and death. A great read if you want to unpack complicated grief or just grief in general it’s worth it.

A magnificently informative recollection of thanotourism by Caitlin Doughty. I would highly recommend this book to anybody experiencing death anxiety or just  interested in learning about different death cultures.

Non fiction. Caitlin travels the world to explore how other cultures handle death. The western world distances itself unnaturally from the dead in a way that is not healthy.
