it started off sexy and then it fell apart. I had such high hopes for this book.

Chicken soup. Seriously. Contemporary Romance is apparently my literary equivalent to chicken soup, something that I find myself reaching for when I'm blue and in a need of a pick-me-up. Victoria Dahl delivers - I really enjoy her flawed characters and entertaining dialogue.

this one followed the last mcs bff (lori) and her brother (quinn), and it made some.. choices. first off, it was (again) SO insta-love. i mean they just saw each other once and were like ok ur hot. the smut really saved this book which is something i don't think i've EVER said. but its the truth. otherwise it would've been a really boring story. i mean, ben (the cop) really raNDOMLY reopens lori's dad's case and for some reason thinks its murder, and then everything works out and blah blah blah. but like realistically?? why would he ever reopen that case on his own? anyway, a good quick read but nothing too memorable.

Nerd meets tomboy...match set!! Love this book! Laugh out loud moments. Engaging mystery as well! Hot and steamy scenes a plenty!

I liked this a lot more than the first book in the series. Quinn/Lori's story was a lot more interesting and the mystery behind her Dad's death and land was intriguing.

Lori gave up her dreams to stay home and help her dad with his auto body shop. Quinn, Molly’s brother, is too focused on work to have time to relax and enjoy his success. He helps her realize that it’s not too late to go after what she wants. She helps him slow down and enjoy life. I loved that Lori’s appreciation for erotica informed Quinn’s sexual advances. There is a good amount of kink. Also the cover takes it’s cue from a smoking hot scene in the book.

This was sweet. As with Molly and Ben in the last one, I have no idea how Lori thought she'd just be able to give Quinn up. Or how she could keep telling Quinn it was just sex. Sure the pass closes every winter, but how far in denial was she that she couldn't see this was way more than just a fling? Poor Quinn. I thought it was really sweet that while Quinn often forgot about his other girlfriends and what were important to them, he was always so in the moment with Lori. I was really glad to see that Lori got her HEA with Quinn as well as a good start at rebuilding the life that had sort of been stolen from her. Fun, sweet story.

I liked the first book about an erotica author afraid to tell her friends and family what she does for a living, I liked this book about a female mechanic looking for a fling, I am looking forward to the next book which seems to revolve around Quinn's secretary.

I would give this book 2.5 stars.

This is the second book in the Tumbler Creek series. We were briefly introduced to Lori Love, local mechanic, in the first book Talk Me Down. Lori's love (ha!) is non-existent. So non-existent that the folks of Tumbler Creek thinks that she's a lesbian. Lori inherited her father's car shop after he passed away. Being a mechanic and a tomboy doesn't have the men of Tumbler Creek knocking down her door. I loved Lori, at first. I can totally relate to the tomboy thing and not being into girly things - clothes, shoes, make-up. Lori decides that she needs to have a no-strings affair to end her sex drought. Then there's Quinn, the nerdy, absent-minded older brother of Lori's best friend, Molly. Of course, nothing goes as planned.

I enjoyed reading this book even though after awhile Lori got on my last nerve! She was always putting herself down, didn't believe Quinn when he told her she was beautiful (several times) and constantly got in her own way! Sheesh! The sex was hot and Molly provided some comic relief. I wish Lori had her epiphany a little earlier in the book because I was ready to put it down and be done with it. And I was a little disappointed with the ending. No HEA. The book wasn't tied up in a pretty little bow like most romances. There were no big declarations of...anything! With that said, I will be reading Dahl's next book Lead Me On which features Quinn's assistant, Jane.
