4.75 “Things only have the value we give to them. And likewise, actions can be worth whatever we decide them to be worth”

what a beautiful story
The ending was crazy but somehow made perfect sense. Once again, the little connections to all his other books made it even more fun to read but this could also be read without that background. Definitely one of his best books.

While a small part of Yumi and the Nightmare Painter loses its charms through (very, very minor) narrative inconsistencies, like Yumi being somehow familiar with some concepts when it makes for a cute moment and totally unfamiliar with others when it doesn’t, the overall story is incredibly charming and accessible, as with many of Sanderson's works, but particularly with the Secret Project novels. This book brought me some much needed levity given my recent reads, and I'm grateful for its lighthearted tone!

Okay I liked this one a fair amount more than Tress of the Emerald Sea. Mentally, I don’t think Sanderson and I have ever really seen eye to eye, but we definitely rubbed shoulders with Yumi and the Nightmare Painter.

Also the illustrations are stunningly gorgeous.
