This one was a lot of fun, the stories range from long to short, serious to funny, but I enjoyed them all, some of my favourites are:
Desert Pickup - a hitchhiker story
Eats - a private detective story
Joyce - about taxidermy gone too far.
After someone pointed out that Richard Laymon uses the word 'rump' a lot in his books every time I see it in a story, it brings a smile to my face, it's like when you see a Stephen King cameo in one of his movies.

Fiends by Richard Laymon, book 22 of 97 for #readwhatyouown2021
This short story collection is a bit hot and cold for a Laymon. The tales I found were more thriller than horror and some where better stories than others.
I found the title story very clever! It was shocking and dark and almost lost me at one point but that ending was a phenomenal twist and I was very much in love with the unexpected final girl shit that got done!
My favourite story in the collection had to be Kitty Litter which was very short but packed a punch and had me clapping at the ending. Well played, Lazzy and Mr Bishop! 👏
Not Laymon’s greatest work but definitely worth a read!

Was surprised at how much I enjoyed this collection. Not because I've any reservations about Richard Laymon at all, he's one of my favourite authors in fact, but because a forum I frequent said it wasn't as good as one of his others. Anyway, some really good stories here. I very much enjoyed them all, although the title novella isn't the best of them, it was still pretty good.
