A fantastic introduction to DC. I now feel like I have lived under a rock for the past 35 years. The stories are thought provoking in a way I did not expect from Batman Comics. A brilliant start to a collection!

Really enjoyed this main story, along with the bonus comics in the back, also by Neil Gaiman. They all brought a really unique voice to the series. The main story is such a good close to the original Batman series. It offers a meditation on the character as a whole, the impact he has irl and within the Gotham universe, and each character’s unique relationship with him. You can tell Gaiman has so much love for these characters. Would definitely recommend

"Am I dead?"
"Not yet."
"Are you death?"
"I don't think death is a person, Bruce."
"Then tell me who you are. Tell me what's going on."
"You're the world's greatest detective, Bruce. Why don't you figure it out?"

A great ending to Batman. It is good today and it would be good 100 years from now.

I enjoyed the main story quite a bit. Gaiman does a nice job acknowledging various eras of Batman's history. It's really not a great story if you're looking for an adventurous, exciting Batman thriller, but Gaiman did a nice job depicting Batman's legendary status. The back-up stories were fairly blah, though I found the Simon Bisley b&w tale fairly charming.

Oh Neil Gaiman, you are fabulous.
Basically, he was commissioned to write the LAST Batman comic. So this is Batman's funeral (and other stories), and its very Gaiman-esque, which is a great thing. So if you like graphic novels, or Batman, I would definitely say give this one a try.

Who could come up with just one ending? This was a great book, well written and amazingly illustrated.

This isn't the Batman that I'm used to - it's very definitely Gaiman's Batman.

Excellent homage to the history of Batman. Quite moving and beautifully drawn.
