I wish I had read this as a teenager instead of reading the internet.

This book should be added to a required reading list for sexual education courses in school.

CW: uterus, blood, ivs

I initially started reading the book as my uterus was/is trying to unalive me through the extremely excessive blood loss due to a "cobble road" of fibroids on the inside of my uterus that have haunted my gynecologist who said she could still "vividly remember" the look of my uterus a year later.

That being said, if you have a uterus that's not trying to unalive you, or you have an interest in learning more about vaginas in general, you will also find interesting and relevant information in this book.

I loved this book until I was at the hospital weekly and could not stand anything related to medicine, so I read the chapters that were relevant to my own health issues and stepped away to read anything unrelated to medicine whilst dealing with the burning of my weekly infiltrated IVs for the span of 4-6hrs each week.

Escapism is very powerful, but so is information, so arm yourself with a bit of both.

As a Family Physician over the last two decades I’ve found the amount of miseducation and uneducation in regards to vaginal health appalling. Thank you Dr. Gunter for a down-to-earth groundbreaking book that educates and dispels so many harmful myths. As a physician and Mom of three AFAB teens I will be recommending and gifting copies of this to all of them - my patients, my colleagues, my family members and my friends!!

“The clitoris, when it was considered by ancient physicians at all, was believed to be the female version of the penis. But lesser. (I’m sorry, but the organ, capable of multiple orgasms, that only exists for pleasure is not lesser. It is the gold standard”

As someone who's navigated the murky waters of women's health questions first-hand, Dr. Jen Gunter's "The Vagina Bible" is a revelation. Packed with wit, clarity, and a no-nonsense approach, Gunter dispels myths about our most intimate anatomy with the precision of a trusted friend and the expertise of a seasoned OB/GYN.

From debunking the sugar-yeast infection link to demystifying the HPV vaccine, Gunter tackles it all with a blend of scientific rigor and compassionate storytelling. Her insights on pubic hair, vaginal care regimens, and the truth behind trendy treatments like vaginal steaming are eye-opening, liberating us from the noise of misinformation that pervades the internet.

What makes "The Vagina Bible" stand out is Gunter's ability to distill complex medical jargon into accessible knowledge. Whether you're curious about the vaginal microbiome or contemplating cosmetic surgery options, Gunter's guidance is clear, empowering, and backed by years of expertise.

Beyond medical advice, Gunter addresses broader issues like healthcare disparities and the dismissal of women's symptoms, urging us to advocate for our own health. Her candid discussions on menopause, pregnancy changes, and sexual health resonate deeply, making this book not just informative but also profoundly supportive.

For anyone seeking reliable information on vaginal health—from teenagers to seniors—this book is a must-read. It's a comprehensive, reassuring guide that celebrates the diversity and resilience of our bodies while equipping us with the knowledge to make informed decisions.

A must-read if you have/used to have/will have a vagina, if you parent or partner with someone who does, if you legislate those who do, or if you just want interesting information. Easy to read and it's divided into clear sections so that if you just want info on a specific concern, you can go straight to it. And the author sent a copy to every member of Congress, which makes her my hero.
