Rereading a favourite book is like visiting an old friend. You bask in their presence and dread when your short time together will end but know that you'll be back again before too long. I love this book. Julie Myserson puts it perfectly in her introduction, "it's one of the most bewitching and heart-squeezing of all Du Maurier's novels."

Honestly another great Daphne du Maurier story. I really enjoyed reading this one,
but I’m so sad that she didn’t run away at the end.

Although having said that… it’s left open to the imagination that they may meet again in the future (I choose to believe that they grow old together in a cottage in Finistère and he finally cooks her that spit roasted chicken on the beach).
