my favorite so far

This one is my absolute favorite. The relationship and the approach to society is spectacular. This is what I’ve wanted since I started the series…vampires that are thousands of years old behaving like they have a back bone. So refreshing. Willow is also amazing and I love the twist near the end. Highly recommend.

“This world is dark. Humans are slaves. Vampires and Lycans rule the world, because we’re the superior species.”

If you’re coming into this series now, stop! Start at book 1! It’s so worth it and fun knowing a bit more about the world and some of the other characters. (Also every second of Foss’s writing you can get is absolutely worthwhile!)

Foss is most definitely a bit twisted—I hope she doesn’t mind me saying this, as I mean it as a positive remark—creating dark worlds, unique characters and expertly weaving them together.

She also weaves danger, humor, wit, and real feels and all the while a major, world-altering war is brewing. Reading the books in this world is an adrenaline-filled experience.

“He had just slain an entire room of evil in a way I could only dream of accomplishing.” —Willow, ‘Rebel Bitten’.

5 stars.

*If you read for steamy scenes, there are some in this read which are clearly mind-blowing for the characters, and as always with Foss, they do manage to NOT be the same old steamy scenes that many romance authors write over and over again. They contain originality and atypical play. (Personally, I read more for the dark world, corruption, plot twists, etc. but these scenes serve to fuel much of that as well!)

*I cannot recommend this series hard enough … but if you’re thin-skinned, it may not be for you. It’s got some absolutely beautifully, brilliantly dark undertones.

Audio:
Kale Williams is amazing and whoa … that is one sexy voice.
Sarah Puckett is a fave of mine as well, though her penchant for mis-prounciation does trip me up at times. Overall 4-star performance from her, combined with a 5-star performance from Kale.

This was so fun! I had been wondering how they would draw out the rebellion for another 2 books, but the ending to this answered that!

I loved that Willow was strong and independent as well as showing the signs of the life she had lived. She was confused, which I think I would have been too.

Ryder and Kylan together is very entertaining! And all in, this is excellent!

LOVED IT! This is one series that I never have to worry about even possibly being a let down. Every book has been utterly amazing and I can’t wait to dive into the next.

Really loved Willow and Ryder

This may be my favorite of the series! Loved that Willow was as unique at the beginning as she was in the end of the book.

I feel like this book is essentially in two parts. The first part is Willow being thrown into this world of vampires after being captured and put into the breeding camps. The second part is when Willow finds out that she is a hybrid. I liked that this book allowed me to see Willow reunite with Silas and Rae. I wish that there had been more scenes with them but I am glad that Willow and Silas had a beautiful moment.

Damien became a favorite because he was loyal and unlike the previous traitors of the other books. I think that there was a sense of respect throughout the book between all the characters. I do feel like Willow was quite weak and that her recovery from her trauma was essentially washed away rather quickly. Her memories were in a haze for the most part until she went into her transition to becoming a hybrid. Lilith's death was rather quick and surprisingly easy for Willow to do.

Overall, this book brought in most of the characters and moved the story forward. I am excited to see Jace's story unfold.

Just to note i have ONLY read this book from this series since it was the one i got served an ad for and it was a lot to take in (story wise).

The story was a dystopian dual FPPOV, slow burn, enemies to lovers but i didn’t particularly love it despite it being my typical trope bias. I was never a twilight girly but i did love vampire diaries so i gave this a chance. The story wasn’t for me so I won’t be reading the other books in the series.
