So disappointing. The plot felt weak and the worldbuilding inconsistent, the protagonist felt one-dimensional and only seemed to make choices that were convenient to the plot. I often found the writing to be vague with descriptions and flimsy dialogue. There are more creative avenues to make Peter Pan a dark tale that don't just make him an abuser.

OK I was going to give this book 3 stars but the ending brought it to 2. Literally EVERY SINGLE ISSUE I have with this book would’ve been solved if the author didn’t keep us trapped in Holly Darling’s perspective. Half of the book is just characters who have learned things telling Holly what they’ve done/ learned, instead of us discovering it with them, and it just ends up very. Very. Boring.

I was so excited for this one but was really disappointed. It just dragged on for too long with not a whole lot of substance. It took me a long time to get through and felt like it was quickly wrapped up at the end just to have it be over. Great attack on a fairytale but just bummed out by the end of it.

This definitely was not the Peter Pan retelling I expected it to be. The plot was good and it had a lot of potential but I didn’t like the reason Peter Pan was the villain. I thought it was a bit unnecessary and should’ve came with a trigger warning. If that wasn’t part of it I think it would’ve been much better!

TW for rape. All characters inherently unlikeable. Great and interesting premise but total fail.

I enjoyed this dark version of Peter Pan. I would have liked more in the story line about Christopher and how his character may or may not be related to Captain Hook. Also, more story line as to how Peter Pan became the villain in his own story. Overall an interesting dark retelling of one of my favorite fairy tales.

2.5 it took me FOREVER to get through the first few chapters. In the end, I never really understood or appreciated Peter Pan as a childhood hero. And I remember having really strong objections to him when I was a young adult. This makes more sense to me. But also ew

I went ahead and borrowed a copy of this from my local library in spite of the reviews I thought the story line had a lot of potential but it just fell flat like others indicated it would. I love Peter Pan retellings especially ones that feature Captain Hook as a love interest or as the protagonist.
But this wasn't it. The story as a whole was boring and slow paced and it lacked detail (except that one scene which could have done with less) and the, what I imagine was supposed to be a shocking, twist was so obvious I felt like the author kind of insulted the readers intelligence.
The graphic detailing about how her daughter was conceived felt unnecessary and like the author was trying to bring a teen novel to an adult level. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.
