This was a really fun rom-com YA. I enjoyed the characters and the chaos of the big family and the massive wedding. I thought that the development of the relationship between Zuri and Naveen worked well and was pretty well paced and I liked that there was just the hint of the future in the end with the acknowledgment that they both had a lot of personal things to do before they might be ready for something more substantial . Things got a little too chaotic at times, but it was kept in check and I was surprised that it wasn't too, too hard to keep everyone straight with such a big cast. I wanted to look up every single food reference, but there were so many, it would have taken me forever to read the book if I did! I sort of wish there was a glossary of some of the common references for those of us who are unfamiliar with some of the customs and cultural references, not in the story, but as a little addendum at the back of the book. A fun, funny, and sweet romance with plenty of music and family drama.

This book was very silly. Definitely written for a younger audience. Storyline was weak and predictable, but I do appreciate the homage to Indian culture. It represented our traditions and love of/for family well.

Hip hop violin and a gigantic Indian wedding?!? What’s not to love?! And I did love it. My only criticism was that scenes felt unfinished sometimes. I like mystery, but I don’t like it in a rom-com.

I was drawn to this book by the gorgeous cover and the idea of a fun Indian wedding story, but I’m really not a fan of the writing in this at all. The teen-speak feels so fake and out of touch, it’s really grating and irritating to read. I made it through six chapters of hyperactive teen rambling where absolutely nothing happened and all I have to show for it is a headache.

thank you to netgalley for providing me with an arc!
i was looking forward to reading this book because of the premise but i thought it felt short of my expectations. the main romance wasn't very well developed and i think that the other relationships in the book weren't really written well either. however, i loved seeing the bits of desi culture throughout the book, and could really picture the wedding festivities. i don't think the music subplot was well executed either, and the book was quite predictable as a whole. overall, i think the premise of this book held promise, but fell short in terms of execution.
