This book seems endless. It has chapters that span up to 60 pages, swaps between characters that you never really get the chance to like, and leans heavily on overwrought descriptions and overcomplicated names and titles. I could not keep our villains straight, and while I usually enjoy mystery books, this one had so many characters and un-realities it was impossible to even start a case file.

The book started very well, very intrigued by the mystery and the adventures against the Cabal’s secret society.

But once the alchemy and antagonists’ respective motivations became the focal point, the end didn’t do it for me - the concluding chases, reveals, fights and interactions felt too drawn out.

I felt like the 3 POV characters got very lucky more than their respective skills helped them through their adventures. That was very off putting. And action descriptions and settings weren’t clear. There were times it seemed like a character transported out of no where across a room or up stairs.

And the main plot seemed to take place over 2 days maybe. And the amount of travel the characters did and all the science experiments Done to people - seems way too convenient for all that to happen in a short amount of time. Timeline made no sense.

Not well written and too confusing at times.
