2.5 stars - I considered not finishing once I started to feel that it was too predictable - I don’t know much about this genre, but I suspect there are lots of other books that are way more interesting, with characters that are more likable and nuanced, with a plot that feels less predictable.

Twisty and fun

Chapters were kinda long which always throws me off in thrillers

Wow I was blown away by this book. If anyone has recently read about the Gypsy Rose story it has a ring of that story but this book just twists and turns into an amazing story of abuse and lies which I couldn’t put down. It tells the story of Rose Gold who has grown up believing that she is seriously ill when in fact it is all a lie her mother had invented to fool the world. Now her mother is getting out of jail why is Rose Gold letting her move in and get near to her baby boy and what is going on with this mixed up relationship. I would love to see this turned into a film as I think the story is thrilling and would be a great movie.

An original, dark, and gripping story about Rose Gold's upbringing and her relationship with her mother. I enjoyed it but I wasn't surprised by the twist and I just felt like something was missing or unanswered in the plot.

Thanks Goodreads giveaways and the author for sending me an ARC for my honest review.

This was a pretty good book, I devoured it in two days. Rose Gold was an amazing character to read- Wrobel did fantastic work writing her. I will say, however, that the ending felt very rushed. The pacing was moving along smoothly and then everything happened at once. I'll keep Stephanie Wrobel in mind to read more of her books in the future.

This fictionalized take on the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case is super fun. Revenge tales are a lot of fun to read.

The good: this book was entertaining, easy to read and a quick one, too. The bad: I just couldn’t get over how unrealistic it was. Maybe I’m being a snot but coming from a psychology background, the way the characters act is not at all what would actually happen in real life.

Okay. So. As with many thrillers I’ve read this year, it was sort of slow in the beginning. But when it picked up, IT PICKED UP. And it was absolutely freaking wild. I really enjoyed this book, especially the ripped from the headlines plot. One of the reviews on the back said it was “misery meets sharp objects” and honestly, a great description!

I’m sure I’ll have a more thorough review to write when I’m not watching tv lmao.

From the cover, I had no idea what I was in for with this book. I thought it was some Millennial love story. Um, no.

It's got the vibes of Gone Girl with a backdrop similar to the DeeDee/Gypsy Rose Blanchard story. I enjoyed the switch back and forth from the current perspective of the mom and the flashbacks from the daughter. The book was engaging, well-written, and deliciously screwed up. The ending/resolution came a bit too quickly for me, but was satisfying nonetheless. A great weekend read!
