Omg okay I now this book has mixed reviews and emotions because how Kelsey was and how she kinda treated JP (btw love the full name omg I cried when I found out his name) but Kelsey yes I this hopeless romantic who wants to find love like how her sister has and how when reads about and the couples she interviews for her podcast i understand and she her in myself yes there were moments where I was like come on Kelsey he love you he is the one but this was like dislike to lovers and don’t get me wrong I felt bad for JP and yes we do need to save more pigeons 🐦but I did enjoy it has me all over the place hot and feeling the spicy and happy and even sad and crying a bit

If I could give this book zero stars, that still wouldn’t be enough. I DNF after 70 pages. I just finished the first book in the series “A Not So Meet Cute.” I didn’t particularly enjoy the first one, but I had already purchased all of them in the series so I went ahead and started this one. And Jesus Christ. I wish I could go back in time just 45 minutes and never start this book. First of all, Kelsey is kind of a bitch. And JP is a douche bag. JP seemed sweet in the first one, but god. In this one he’s a grade a fuck boi. And he is sooo inappropriate. The fake orgasm a la When Harry Met Sally during their “date” was so gross and inappropriate and random. I did not find their “banter” (if you can even call it that) remotely funny or charming. Usually with enemies to lovers, it’s pretty clear why they don’t like each other. And in this one I guess it’s stated, but I don’t really get WHY. JP basically wants Kelsey to not like him as a friend, so that they don’t cross any lines in the workplace. But he makes her HATE him and I don’t understand why. He’s so cocky and like. Impressed with himself with how uncomfortable he makes her. If he doesn’t want to cross lines, he can just be professional with her. That’s it. He doesn’t need to sexually harass her at work. Like in what world does that make sense? And on top of that, Lottie and Huxley are so annoying and gross in this one, and they’re not even in it that much. But every time Kelsey is around them they’re talking about how they want to fuck each other. Lottie literally shows Kelsey the vibrator Huxley bought her, and goes on to tell Kelsey how she blacked out from it. Huxley tells Lottie in front of Kelsey that he wants her to “cum on his tongue” when they get home. Do these people not have boundaries?? If my sister’s fiancé said that in front of me I would have a stroke. That moment between Lottie and Huxley was a dealbreaker for me. The next scene was the three of them attending a work event and Kelsey was bringing a date and I couldn’t stand the thought of reading about JP being a dickwad in front of Kelsey’s date. I knew reading that would be torture. So I stopped. I cannot imagine putting myself through almost *FIVE HUNDRED PAGES* of that bullshit.
I would like to give a big, fat congratulations to this epically awful book for being my first ever DNF

JP Cane and Kelsey Gardners enemies to lovers story. He was the middle child playboy who had his heart stolen by Kelsey the second she walked through his offices doors to pitch her business idea with her sister Lottie (book one. Who is dating his brother Huxley, but during this time they were fake dating)
It helps provide the inside minds of people who seem to have it all together but actually go through a lot in their own minds on a daily basis and how trauma has played a part. I think it was done very well and really really enjoyed it.

JP was definitely not what I expected! I've heard him mentioned in our Meghan Quinn books and I finally got around to reading his story and it was so good. I did not expect him to be a big cinnamon roll but I loved it!

"Because when she called me Jonah last night, nothing had ever sounded more right."
Oh Meghan, you've done it again. I have once more fallen for a Cane brother and I'm not the least bit surprised. JP was my favorite from the start if I'm honest, I loved the way he teased Hux and the fun energy he showed but now I get to see all the edges of who he is and why he responds to life the way he does and I LOVE HIM MORE.
Kelsey and JP start off the book at odds with each other because they are both thrown off by their attraction to each other that they are obviously denying it, and it makes for a jumbled start to their relationship. I wouldn't quite call them enemies to lovers...more like I'm pretending that I don't love you to lovers...HA!
Kelsey has her dream man designed perfectly in her head and she is the hopeless romantic who is waiting for her romantic comedy movie to start rolling out right in front of her. She is so wrapped up in the idea of love that she is missing what is right in front of her.
Not that JP is doing himself any favors by always leaning on his defense mechanisms of pushing people away and making everything into a joke. We see his heart throughout the book, but I wish he would have opened up about some of his thoughts sooner. I wanted to smack him through this book on more than one occasion.
I almost gave it 4 stars because of this...but THE DAMN PIGEON SCENE. It made it a 5 star read. I have never scene a mental breakdown so beautifully crafted and then the pigeon meet cute. Yes just yes! If you read this book tell me the pigeon doesn't make you fall harder...
I have not found a book by Meghan that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed but I will say the Cane brothers are at the top of my list right now. Off to read Breaker's story now and probably fall for him too.

did the fact that this book is 80% miscommunication and i despise miscommunication stop me from finishing it in like 24 hours? nope. while it was still cute i could not deal with both the miscommunication and the third act breakup like one or the other please. since i love miss meghan i could not give it anything less that 3 stars but it definitely was not my favorite.
