Geheimnisse lüften sich

Ein weiterer toller Band, der wieder größtenteils in der Vergangenheit spielt. Das wird diesmal aber noch um einiges spannender, da wir endlich mehr darüber erfahren, wie und warum Wei Wuxian zum Yiling-Patriarch wird. Ich war so wütend über die Ungerechtigkeiten, die da so passiert sind! Dann hat mich auch eine Szene wirklich überrascht 😳 Es ist echt ein massiver Slow Burn, aber ich mag das, da so selbst die kleinsten Sachen total aufregend sind und man nie weiß, was als nächstes passiert 🤭 Die Gegenwartsgeschichte war wie gesagt etwas kürzer, aber nicht weniger spannend und ging in eine etwas andere Richtung, als ich erwartet hatte und natürlich endet das dann auch noch mit einer richtig tollen Szene, sodass ich am liebsten gleich weitergelesen hätte 😅
Übrigens mochte ich in dem Band Wen Ning sehr gerne 🖤

I think the translation seems a little better to me, maybe thanks to another translator joining the existing translator in this volume. However, there have been too many spelling mistakes for my taste. I find it especially annoying when names are misspelled, so when I read "Wen Chan" instead of Wen Chao, and "Wei Ning" instead of Wen Ning, I got a bit annoyed.

Five stars for story, as always (look, I'm biased, I love this story and I will never shut up about it, no one can come between me and MDZS. Also, Yiling laozu is quite a sexy guy and has bewitched my usually cold and empty heart). Editing could have been better, but that's not the author's fault so whatever.

one of the things that i am grateful for is mxtx’s decision to not reveal wei ying’s past right away. we certainly get little bits and pieces, in the first two books, but the third book is where we really begin to see Wei Ying not just as this person was resurrected, but Wei Ying as the Yiling Patriarch. which, the response to that is obvious— they’re the same person. and that’s TRUE (WY, whenever the Yiling Patriarch is brought up, never shies away from it) but now the reader has really reflect on Wei Ying as a character (the one we knew and the one we know now).

also, it’s important to note HOW the flashbacks are done: a nightmare of memories that only ends when WY wakes up. we are living through this grief as WY does, forced to face bits of his past as he is.

THIS is also where we get the famous, “But… Wei Wuxian turned his head slightly and saw Lan Wangji there, standing by his side without a hint of hesitation of backing down. But this time, he was no longer alone.” which is, for lack of a better term, beautiful. looking back into the past, LWJ begged for WY to return to Gusu with him. over and over again. and now, in the face of disciples and sect leaders from different clans, he shows his unwavering support to Wei Ying.

basically… it’s just GREAT. wangxian first kiss????? wangxian song reveal (kind of not really but it’s certainly there)?????? forehead ribbon?????? THE FOREHEAD RIBBON??!???? throwing flowers at LWJ?????? because he’s so beautiful??????
