Honestly speaking, the only reason I picked up this book was the guilt I felt for having shelved it since 2010. As for its literary merit, my expectations were pretty low; however, Macy's vivid descriptions and attention to detail genuinely surprised me.

The last one was disturbing and distasteful, and I didn't care for the title story, but otherwise I loved it.

Very insightful look into the lives of upper class NYC women who are just shy of being truly upper class.

Love her characters
The lives of the rich and entitled are examined in these arresting short stories. Highly recommend if you want to see how the one percent is not like the rest of us.

Macy is a very good writer. I am compelled to read these stories even though I am repulsed by the characters. I have been acquainted with these types of women but I never really knew any of them. If Macy's portrayal is accurate, they are so much worse than I imagined.
Almost all of these women clamor for men, value their attractiveness above all else, hate other women. There is a weird misogyny here. Perhaps it is the women of the era of the late 80s.

Found it a little boring and hard to follow, so I never finished it.
