I admit it: about halfway through I started skimming. Forgive me. It's an interesting concept, but reading about people trying to cut through the most extreme bureaucratic red tape imaginable didn't hold my interest.

What an incredible book! This is an dystopian atmospheric novel, in which the protagonist seems to be stuck in a never-ending queue, which is probably everyone's worst nightmare. I liked how raw the story is, how deeply scarred its characters are; it made me feel for them. I am surprised to see how underrated it is and I wonder how it has been received in Egypt. Nevertheless, I will definitely recommend this to people.

I think this book would have made a better novella than a novel. I quit about half way in. I have a feeling it would have picked up for me had I stuck with it, but I just couldn't - it would have been dutiful reading, and I don't do that any more. Life's too short. If you like Kafka, you will probably like this as well, but I don't and I didn't. Wrong book, wrong reader.

I love dystopian novels, and I liked this book a lot. It didn’t grip me the way some other books this year have but I suspect I will be remembering and recommending this book. Orwell and Kafka influences for sure. It seems the author is doing well which is excellent.
