Ehhhhhh plot was really interesting and so that made it fun to read but I got so confused by the characters and if I had to read one more time about Darby and her freaking tight jeans and long legs and red toenails (?!???) I would have thrown up. Also definitely a good bit of “antiquated” language referring to certain people groups which was quite unsavory.

In my dad book era. The journalism side of this was particularly fun. I think I got my thriller craving out of my system. 3.5 stars.

“My little brief has someone awfully upset, wouldn’t you say?”

A fun read. I bought this looking for something light and easy that I could digest in a short few days, and this did just the trick for me. Reading was easy and the story was interesting. From about halfway through the book until the end, the reader learns who the antagonist is, and the rest of the book pretty much falls into place after that, but it's definitely a well put-together thriller.

The plot kept me reading, but it was pretty obvious this was written in the early 90s because there were a lot of crass descriptions and negative stereotypes of women and minorities. So thanks for that John Grisham. I dont think I'll be reading another book by you as gripping as your stories may be.
