I’ve loads of self-help books, work has been less hectic this week and as it was also my Birthday week. I always think birthdays are the best time for a reset to reframe our mindset and way of thinking, so I decided to give this a listen this week.
I read Philippa’s previous book “The Book You Wish Your Parents had Read (and your children will be glad that you did)” and this is the follow up, so when this came up on Audible deals recently I picked it up.
Psychotherapist Philippa Perry shares her sage and witty advice on how to navigate our relationships in the best possible way, focusing on I statements, taking guilt over resentment, overcoming our inner critic and imposter syndrome. Yes, the book title suggests we should gift this book to the ones we love, but of course relationships aren’t just built by one person, so we all need to do the work, step back and reassess.
It was an easy listen, very Guardian, very British, but jam packed with anecdotes seeking advice, which made it easier to digest.
Graphic: Suicidal thoughts
