Elisabeth recently recommended this to me because she knows I read fantasy but have not really enjoyed much of the recent mainstream fantasy I've read in the past decade. This was a young adulthood favorite of hers and she thought I may enjoy it, as well.
Turns out, she was correct!
This was originally written in Danish and translated to English by the author. That, alone, impressed me because I suspected that much less would be lost in translation.

I loved this book as a young reader, but as a 30 year old, I would like to say I still love this book.
Sure it isn't perfect, but it is a hell of a lot better than most of the series published since 2020.

Erittäin hyvää nuorten fantasiaa, josta olisin varmasti pitänyt enemmän nuorempana. Kirjan tarina on nopeatahtinen ja hahmoille sattuu ja tapahtuu koko ajan. Tarinan vauhdikkuus pitää lukijan mukanaan koko ajan, eikä tylsiä hetkiä ole. Hahmot ovat kiinnostavia ja varsinkin päähahmo Dina on loistava. Tarinassa on muutenkin kiinnostavia elementtejä: on lohikäärmeitä, hirmuhallitsijoita, juonittelua sekä petoksia. Näkijöiden lahja on myös kiinnostava kyky. Tarina oli vain ehkä liian heppoisesti kirjoitettu omaan makuun. Kirja on selvästi kirjoitettu itseäni nuoremmalle yleisölle, joten en itse saan aivan kaikkea irti siitä. Maailman oli mielenkiintoinen, vaikka kokonaiskuvaa siitä vaikea hahmottaa sen ristiriitaisuuksien vuoksi; hahmot olivat loistavia mutta hieman liian yksiulotteisia; ja kirjoitustyyli oli vähän liian lapsekas omaan makuun. Lopetus vaikutti myös vähän liian nopeasti taputetulta. Aion kuitenkin jatkaa seuraavankin osaan, sillä haluan nähdä kuinka hahmot ja tarina kehittyvät.
