When Bonnie gives a book 5 stars I know I have to read it. This one did not disappoint. And that just might be because I knew almost nothing about it before I started reading, other than an intriguing premise. By the end I couldn't put it down.

I knew nothing about this book before I started reading it. I'm happy I experienced it this way. I suggest for anyone considering reading this book, stop reading reviews and just read it. The book is amazing.

Superbly plotted and paced with beautiful evocative prose describing post-apocalyptic life. The only thing I would have found useful would be a map to accompany. I would love to see the station eleven comics and the artworks described if they were ever produced.

The intricately braided storylines are almost more important than the plot as far as defining this book. I loved that part. The setting is imaginative and inspiring. the characters are lackluster but the rest makes up for it.

A 2015 Michigan Notable Book
"Because survival is insufficient" - That's what makes this novel distinct from nearly every post-apocalyptic tale of savagery. Starting in media res, the storytelling is masterful as character backstories and interconnections are gradually revealed, as is the step-by-step unraveling of civilization as we know it ... and the attempt to build a new one. And the title's roots in an indie comic book penned by one of the characters seals the deal for me. Still haunting.
