Living in a post-COVID world, this book probably hits different than it did when first published and probably should have considered that before picking it up. It gets kind of intense with the lived experience we do have, even if it wasn’t quite as dramatic.

Man, I really love Emily St. John Mandel. She has such a recognizable voice and paints such a vivid, emotional picture. I don’t know if this was extra triggering because of us living through a pandemic, but I think this will stick with me forever. Highly recommended reading.

This book is really eerie after having gone through the COVID-19 pandemic in our lifetime.  Never really felt a connection with any of the characters, but the book was very well written and engaging.  Bet it'd be even better on a reread.

Interesting to read after living through covid. I think that the way all the plot lines interact is really interesting, and I like how it slowly comes together.

I kinda wish that Jeevan had more plot relevance? It’s a little odd that despite his significance at the start he kinda hardly is mentioned later on.
