Very strong characters and amazing world building. Start of a series, so you are going to need to wait to get that happy ending. At least I hope it is happy.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The story is interesting. Not sure how I feel about the prose, seemed rather wordy and at times, hardly flowed at all.

Having dyed things with walnuts, I can tell you how effective they are. Reading about Mila learning survival skills with walnuts reminded me of the wormy nuts we used to find in graveyards. And here it is: Mila’s life is a graveyard after the Caledonians conquered like ancient Romans, and she spends over two years learning how to survive in the woods. All that is overturned when she is captured. I felt like she was slowly being raped and demeaned, despite being resourceful and a spitfire.

I guess it is a guilty pleasure; I would never want any such thing in real life. The orgy scene is horrifying. The pampered slave life reminds me of peacocks in cages. This was a first novel? Unbelievable. The story is so graphic and realistically brutal that I was sucked in just reading the tiny details. The world seems real. The characters seem real, and it is scary.

Now I want to know what the rewrite looks like. I want to know if she ever figures out that chains go both ways. This is seriously dark and it reminds me of Quinn Blackbird’s stories.
#Dystopian
# Dark Romance
#Definitely NOT for kids
# Enemies to Lovers, possibly?
# Alpha Love?

The only thing I don’t understand is the Title. Whatever. I received this through Booksprout for a review. Lucky guess on my part. I read it in an evening.

Good story, but...

Good storytelling. Was easily able to visualize the plot and its characters. However, I hate buying books that end in a cliffhanger, especially when part of a series that's incomplete. So I was disappointed to find that this one goes on to another book that also ends in a cliffhanger (and book 3 doesn't come out for another year). From what I've read about this author, cliffhangers are the norm, so I won't read any more until whole series are finished (and likely on Kindle Unlimited).

I am a huge fan of the Triton Evolution series so when I heard this was the original version I was desperate to get my hands on it. The desperation was justified! Although the story is similar, I enjoyed this one in its own right. It is grittier and darker and moved at a faster pace. The characters and story line were just as fabulous, though, and I can't wait to get my hands on book 2.

So this is book #1 and the original version of The Last Triton albeit one that has been polished to a good shine. However just to really confuse you, the author rewrote the story and released it a few years ago, beginning with [b:Ravenous Innocence|43811152|Ravenous Innocence (The Last Tritan, #1)|Myra Danvers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1549086506l/43811152._SY75_.jpg|68132052]. This version, which is hugely different, was released because fans of the Lit€rotica version refused to be silenced
