Looking up the word "flaneur" really helped when approaching this. More social commentary/portrait of 90s queer scene than novel

Approachable but challenging, Dowd's childlike tone discomforts the reader in light of the dark experiences she shares. A continual reminder of her own youth at the time.

Fern's writing is only exceeded by her storytelling. It's a genuine pleasure to read her experiences punctuated by well-researched and presented information on autism. She's creating the space that she needs in the world.
