A caring, fun, delicious fantasy graphic novel about finding community and yourself through cooking.
The Baby Dragon Café by A.T. Qureshi

I wanted to love this book but it had so many issues. The concept was so cute and intriguing but this felt like this was a first draft, the writing was very simplistic and over explained everything. I liked Saphira's character, but the insta-love romance with her and Aiden felt so forced, as they had no chemistry. I was also disappointed that the fantasy element of dragons and other creatures living with humans in a contemporary setting was not addressed. I might return to this authors work in the future but this book was not edited or marketed well which really did the author a disservice.

This spicy romance was surprisingly heartfelt and dealt with grief and loss in complex ways.
Keyana McKay has just lost her father who was estranged from his parents who live on a farm in Scotland. After his death, Key uproots her life to return to Scotland to meet her grandparents for the first time and to scatter ger father's ashes in the Loch he loved.
Lachlan Greer is cursed. By day he works as a farm hand on the McKay farm, but at night he transforms into a beast that lurks in the Loch. He's spent years searching for a way to break this ancestral curse, but when Key shows up, Lachlan doesn't know if she will be able to help, or to spell his doom.
don't normally like duel perspectives in romance novels but I appreciated it in this book as living in Key and Lachlan's minds helped develop their enemies to lovers dynamic and the magical familial lineages they share. The way Ferguson reimagines the legend of the Loch Ness monster was really interesting and overall I enjoyed how Key and Lachlan's relationship developed, with each other and with their estranged family members. I love a spicy romance and don't shy some the erotic sections but the emotional depth and family mystery was what kept me reading.
