emotional funny

4.0

An emotional yet heartwarming novel. I really liked the characters and how realistic they were, as well as the setting they were in.

I think the writing wasn’t exactly my cup of tea — too much exposition — but I liked the first person pov and how easy it was to emotionally connect to the main character.

Would have rated it higher if the ending had been extended, as I think it was quite abrupt. After all of the emotional ups and downs, I would have loved to see more of them living and interacting as a couple.

Absolutely loved to see the ML’s pov as
we learn that although he looked quite cold and unbothered at the beginning he was actually full of thoughts and emotions on the inside.

funny lighthearted

2.0

A fairly lighthearted novel with a lot of funny moments. Although it was entertaining, I think it was a bit lacking, thus the low rating I’m giving it.

More details below (spoilers!)

1.
I think the bickering/teasing dynamic between the MC and the ML could have been better executed. Having the ML constantly calling the MC things like “trash” and doing whatever he wants wasn’t really my cup of tea.

2.
There were a few misogynistic moments in the book, specially at the beginning, that made me quite uncomfortable. Having the main characters say women aren’t as capable as men doesn’t make them likeable at all.

3.
One of the side couples is constantly fighting and when the MC asked the female guide about it, she told him the sentinel discovered they were compatible when she was only 12 years old and tried to make a move on her, so although she liked him she also thinks he’s a sc*mbag and hates him for it. And instead of empathising with her, the MC says the male sentinel is pitiful???? He even thinks it’s hard on him because how was he supposed to control himself???? Like are we kidding???

Entertaining and absolutely hilarious. I loved the relationship between the main character and the side characters as well as the whole variety shows setting.

I found it a bit slow though, mostly because I was more interested in the romance, so the face-slapping and other sub-plots weren’t as interesting to me.

Extremely sweet, but the angsty bits always made me cry my eyes out. Overall I liked it, although
the time skips were quite confused and we could only tell they happened through contextual clues or the characters telling us themselves, I would have appreciated it more if they were more natural or at least clearly specified.

3.5

Cute and lighthearted. The main couple was extremely sweet and I liked how they protected each other throughout the story and found comfort in one another.

Some things could have been better developed
(for example, it would have been more impactful if we had seen the main character’s past life in depth as it would have made the regret his family felt a little less boring)
however, this is after all a short novel. I’m biased and I love showbiz novels, so I enjoyed the live-streaming and variety show arc although I would have liked the author to explore it more.

If I had to mention something I didn’t quite enjoy (and the reason why I lowered my rating from 4 to 3,5 stars), it would probably be that
because we had a lot of things happening at the end, including the reveal of the dark nature of one of the side characters and their backstory, that specific part of the plot felt a bit out of place and too dramatic considering the earlier vibe of the story.

Still, I quite liked this novel and recommend it to anyone who likes cute protagonists and adorable fluffs.
