Good page turner, as you'd expect from Follett

Three main, intertwined stories take place on a single day. Great characters as always.

Fun read.

This is a short, early novel of Follett's. It follows a whole cast of characters belonging to distinct groups: the journalists, the gangsters, the high finance and brokers. The story is told over the course of a working day, which gives the book a fast pace. The plot is interwoven and intricate.

The characters were too many for such a short book, and I had a clear picture of almost none of them. The plot is promising, but never seems to build to a climax. It is, like all Folletts books, immensely readable and.

Follett before he became THE Follett. Not a badly written book, but he‘s written so many great ones, and this does not live up to expectations. It‘s a short read for a Follett. Set during one day in London. A businessman, minister and journalist have something in common. Read the book to find out more
