Ugh. No. The first strike was Michael/Ryan giving in to sexual urges with a guy he knows is about to be sex trafficked. Lost so much respect for the character for that. But I went on thinking the charscter might redeem himself.
The second one was when Jake realizes he's been sex trafficked and his entire contract is a lie, and instead of finding a way to report it to the police, he decides to go back and do it his own way.

This story was heartbreaking but I loved it. Jake and Ryan really were amazing. It’s the second book in the Too Far duet. A forbidden, mafia romance, it was definitely dark, check TWs. Ryan (Mikhail, as he was known in the first book) is a cop, he’s been deep undercover, working Dimitry’s organization, trying to find out information about the higher ups. Jake is a down on his luck dancer, just hoping to get his big break, when he hears that Valentin is no longer with Dimitry due to an injury, he thinks it’s his chance, if only he proves that he deserves a shot. But unfortunately he doesn’t know who Dimitry really is or what he just agreed to.
Honestly, I wasn’t fully sure how I felt during the first half of the book. I really loved Jake right away, but I wish there had been a little more “wining and dining.” Dimitry was the villain and it would have been great to see a little more of his evilness, instead of just kind of disappearing.
The second half was intense! I was holding my breath and felt so bad for Jake. But again, I just wish there was a little more during his time with Dimitry. Jake was kidnapped and forced into some horrible things for months (TW: SA), I would have liked to see his slow acceptance of this new life.
Overall, I really did enjoy this book. I loved Jake and Ryan. I especially loved that it didn’t end immediately after Jake was rescued and it showed what it was like for Jake dealing with his trauma.

Another fantastic story from the author.
After A dance to far, we were left wondering what would Dmitry do next, now we find out exactly what his plans are.
But I didn’t think Mikhail would be who he was! (Or Igor)
This book will have you wrapped up in the drama and action as it unfolds and we get another story of a beautiful soul being destroyed by Dmitry.
I’m just so glad they all got their HEA in the end!

All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.
This is the second of two books, and both are excellent.
If you like mafia and crime stories, absolutly give them a go.
Slimy Bratva boss Dmitry is back, and he's finally found a new dancer -- Jake.
Jake is broke, has no family, he's desperate for somewhere to stay, exactly the kind of man Dmitry can break.
Dimitry's hired muscle are undercover operatives who have grown hardened to the things they've seen, until Jake gets under Mikheil's skin, and finds Ryan, a man who can only do so much to help him without blowing their operation wide open.
Warning: This is no fairytale. There's some dub-con between Jake and Ryan, initially. There's non-con between Jake and Dimitry's Johns. There is abuse, non-con, mind games and imprisonment. But most of all there is a good, solid story. There is resolution, romance, a rescue, and, there is more Valentin. You do need to read the two books in order for them to really make sense. Not a standalone.

I did end up enjoying it more. Maybe because I was a little more invested in the story as I had read the first and therefore was more prepared for it.

Another great book from H.L. Day. The intensity of the suspense in this book, and the first one (which I recommend you read before this one) keeps you on your toes and she writes characters you root for from the moment you meet them. Jake is a naive guy who just wants a break. He is offered a position from Dmitry, who is a wonderful villain, and his warned by Mikhail not to sign with him. There is something wrong with the contract, but of course Dmitry talks him into signing.
And although Mikhail tried to warn Jake away, he ends up protecting him the best he can while trying to protect his secret. This book will keep you on your toes and I couldn't put it down because I needed to see how it would end. A lovely, tense read but definitely worth it!

An average read, or in my case listen. I liked the characters but there was too much I had to suspend belief about when it came to events/plot for me to rate it any higher. Also it got darker than the first book so I didn't like it as much... definitely mind the content warnings.
Graphic: Sexual assault, Sexual content, Trafficking, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Confinement, Gun violence, Slavery, and Murder

Again, 3.5*
Enjoy isn’t the right word when the story is based on abduction and forced slavery but lways tricky to find the right one.
Character wise, Jake is ripe for exploitation but other than a superficial view of him, didn’t get a big feel for him. He did waver between TSTL and resourceful and at the end, alcoholic in his gilded cage.
Ryan is also a bit of a mystery - we find out more in the last few chapters.
The bits that got to me were things that must occur in real undercover ops - not being able to stop people getting embroiled (Jake signing the contract), having to totally submerge your self, seeing awful things happen in the name if the long game, the potential for the long arm to find you/family in real life
