“That it was about the miracle of the light, yes, but it was also about hope. Hope that in the world we live in, light will triumph over darkness. Good over bad.”

The holiday books I’ve read this year have been hitting just right. You have to reject reality a bit, and give into the wild and crazy plot lines, but it’s worth it! This one had great cultural/religious representation exploring the traditions of Ramadan, Hanukkah and Christmas - all falling within the same time period. I loved the wild snowstorm (slightly unrealistic, but alas) that diverted everyone to the cutest, and extremely diverse town. Again, you have to set aside reality a bit, but it’s worth it for a fun holiday read!

Solid 4 star hallmark style romcom, but with well written characters and an excellently executed plot, with expected last minute miracles. ☺️

This is such a fun, light-hearted, and beautiful holiday story that tackles real life issues, while stranded in Snow Falls, the small Canadian community where Christmas movies are filmed.
Set during a somewhat recent year where Christmas, Ramadhan, and Hanukkah all occur at the same time. Such a great taste of different cultures, written by two best selling Canadian authors. Highly recommend it for your next holiday read!

Listen, can't be mad when something that could easily be a holiday movie turns out to be like watching a holiday movie completed with rapid relationship development, predictability of plot, and eye roll inducing sweetness.

Only notes I had on this was the anachronisms throughout, plot set in 2000 and yet language and even some references from today. Also, the author or editor seemed  to forget at many points that it was established that the town was welcoming and surprisingly diverse with throwaway lines about "uproar" and "stirs".

I really enjoyed this book! This was such a great holiday read and I loved learning more about Hanukkah and Ramadan. I loved Maryam and Anna as two FMC! They were amazing women whose stories felt real. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and know that if you love the spirit of the holidays, you’ll enjoy this too. Not only is it about self discovery and doing what’s right for you, but also about the power of family and chosen family.

Look, this was never going to be the best book on earth. It’s corny as hell. The last third lost a lot of steam. The love interests were all such classic(ally boring) Nice Guys. But was it silly and predictable and festive during a stressful time of year and time of world? Yeah, for sure.

I feel like I say this every time I read a book that I love, but I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did. I’m also finding that I like books when they are co-written! I think co-authors bring a sense of balance and newness to each other that can often (when done right) deliver a unique and magical story—like this book!
This story captured the magic of the tri-holiday festivities, while delivering not one, but two incredibly cute and worthy-to-root-for romances! I absolutely loved Maryam and Anna, and felt the differences complimented each other well, yet their similarities gave them a realistic bond that had me falling for their friendship.
There were so many moments in this book that made me audible laugh, visibly smile, and honestly even shed a tear. It was just very clear to me that these two authors know about love, and they understand how to write a good holiday romance. I felt all of the cultural significance without it feeling fake or insignificant, and I also felt that all three holidays were well represented. This book made me feel so genuinely happy, and I want to make this an annual holiday read. I loved it!
