This sequel, in Chloe Neill’s Heirs of Chicagoland series, has Elisa and Connor traveling to Minnesota where they deal with a shifter community split between pretending to be human or outting themselves as supernaturals. Connor is not only there to support his pack, but to continue growing his skills to follow his dream of becoming Apex. Elisa came with Connor to see where their budding relationship is going, as well as to use her detective skills to help solve crimes happening in the shifter community.

I love Elisa and Connor’s relationship. Connor is so confident in that he wants to be with Elisa and she is torn between enjoying the present and thinking about the future. The mayhem that ensues due to the abnormal shifter attacks and sighting keeps you on your toes trying to figure out who in the pack it could be and how are they keeping it a secret. The pace and dialogue are well written. The ability to connect real-life struggles and have them be explored through a supernatural lens is wonderful. I had a hard time setting this book down, like all the other Chloe Neill books I’ve read.

I absolutely love the world and characters of Chloe Neill and Wicked Hour did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see what Elisa and Connor to do next. I give Wicked Hour five out of five stars!

While not as intense as the Wild Hunger, I quickly slipped in and enjoyed the characters, mystery and strange happens in this secular clan. The pack bought an old resort and live as humans choosing not to come out as others have. The older members are set in their ways and it’s caused issues with the newer generation.

The mystery involved the death of pack members. Conner and Elisa investigate and trouble follows. Elisa struggles to contain her inner “beast” and a battle with transformed creatures results in more problems with the clan. It was intense. Lulu, Theo and Eleanor winks arrive to give aid. The family assists via chats were fantastic. I swooned so hard over Gabriel.

If you like a mix of lore, mystery, snark and enjoy vampire and shifter books, you won’t want to miss this series. I am having a blast with Elisa, Conner and their friends!

We get some romance, and a little resistance, jealousy and threats. This is a thread that will develop over the course of the series and tease me endless, I am sure!

While this is a spinoff, I will confess that I only listened to the first two audiobooks of the Chicagoland series before jumping ship. Now I am thinking I may go back and read them. *sigh* This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Book 2 of the Heirs of Chicagoland Series expanded our view into Pack politics, the relationship between Connor and Elise, and Elise's connection with her inner self. I really enjoyed learning more about pack politics and seeing Elise to continue to come into her own. Also, Connor and Elise grow more together and learn more about each other.

The whole gang makes an appearance and when they do the banter is *chef's kiss*. My favorite part of the Neill's books are the banter between characters and how she develops relationship between them all. There is a hint at another possible relationship (fingers crossed for it) and we get to see the different at how pack handles issues vs vampires.

I am really enjoying my re-read of this series and can't wait to dive into Shadowed Steel (which will be my first re-through).

Road trip!!! Wicked Hour, the second book in the Heirs of Chicagoland series, is all about what happens when a shifter and a vampire take a road trip together.
1. It has to be at night.
2. Politics are going to cause a problem.
3. There are bound to be some sparks!
Elisa and Connor’s new relationship is definitely going to change the supernatural world as they continue to blur the lines! I always love spending time in Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland. Plus I love road trip books!

I am already in love with this series, Elisa and Connor’s relationship really starts to come together. I am sure it won’t be easy with him being in line to be Apex and Elisa being vampire but I think they will work it out.

This was an interesting story Connor invited Elisa to a private Pack event and things kind of when awry but I figured that would happen it’s the way it all went down and how entertaining it was. I just couldn’t put the book down.

Elisa is still battling the “monster” within but I think she realizes yes it feeds on pain but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. If she and it work together they both can get what they need. I mean its magic was bound to her in the womb there is going to be side effect. I hope though she opens up to her parents about it. It seems like a big shadow still hanging over her that she hasn’t opened up to them about it.

Connor really became a leader to me in this book and I like how he wanted Elisa to be herself all of herself including the “monster” he sees them as one. That acceptance is exactly what she needs too I think.

I hate that I have to wait for book 3!! I can’t freaking wait.
Again the narration was fantastic and Suzanne really does give this book a voice.

Un peu déçue quand même de la relation entre les deux protagonistes qui se déroule un poil trop vite.
