Uninspiring and not even qualified to be a companion to JAA #1, Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict lacks plot, believability, and character development. Just stick to the first book! ... please read the full review at: http://tipsyreader.com/books/reviews/book-review-rude-awakenings-of-a-jane-austen-addict/

This wasn't my favourite book, in fact everything about this book annoyed me. It was neither fun nor fantastical. it was annoying and I felt extremely superficial and void of any of the magical and minute details that Jane Austen was famous for.

There were pages that I had to go back and reread because the scenarios just didn't make sense, I was just confused and not very invested in the characters.

I confess that I loved this book! In direct contrast to the first book, [b:Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict|548739|Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict|Laurie Viera Rigler|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1187543629s/548739.jpg|2198542], where a modern woman awakes to find herself in the middle of Jane Austen-era England, this story is what happens when a Regency woman wakes up in modern LA and has to adapt. Delightfully escapist summer read. This fish-out-of-water story is charming and I devoured in a matter of days.

Purchased at Shakespeare & Company in Paris and gifted to me by my mom!

If you were from a different time and magically body swapped with an entertainment assistant, wouldn’t you also quit your job after one day?

I didn't know there was a second in this series and it's been so long since I've read the first I only have vague memories. It's a nice companion piece. We so often see modern women coping in regency times it's great to have that turned on it's head. Parts were frustrating because I know the rules of the modern world while the character was trying to figure them out. I don't remember if in the first book memories from the body came back to the person (so hard to know which name to call them) but this device is very helpful.

probably not fair for me to review this without having read Confessions first, but oh well. I feel the author seemed to get stuck on subjects for too long. Once she finally got things in motion though, I did enjoy the story.

Much like Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, this delightfully-premised novel fell very flat in inexperienced, ill-researched hands.

This wasn't quite as unbelievable as Confessions, but the main character's reactions and inner monologue feel inauthentic and the characters overall are weak.

I really don't think this even rises to my 'beach read' criteria. If you're a true Austen fan or an educated person of any persuasion, I recommend steering clear of this book.

The Freaky Friday premise - two unhappy women swap lives, despite the barriers of two centuries of time and living on different continents - is not a serious one, but the book is well-written, the details of Jane Austen's period and our own are accurate, and the stories are enjoyable. A fun read, and a great companion to the first book. With this one, we get the second woman's side of the story, as she awakens after an accident in Regency England and discovers that she is a 21st century single woman in Los Angeles.

Second book in the "series." Felt much the same way about this one as the last. Entertaining enough, but really nothing special.
