Scorching hot sex scenes with fairly well developed characters, however I do wish the synopsis included a content or trigger warning as I am not sure I would have read the book had I known that child sexual abuse would play a large role for our characters’ arcs.
Overall, the book is more erotic romance than romantic erotica, but still worth the read if you are not triggered by sexual abuse OR if you go into the book expecting to be triggered (if that makes sense).
Also? Could not stop thinking about how pie filling as lubricant would likely cause a yeast infection. So there’s that. lol
8/10 would recommend, BUT with content/trigger warnings

Bad Girl By Night

Uncomfortable with the idea of becoming sexually involved with a man from her small home town, Carly Winters releases her pent up frustrations under the guise of an alter-ego, Desiree. During one of her excursions in the big city, Carly/Desiree meets Jake Lockhart, a sexy as sin stranger, and finds herself engaging in one of her most secret fantasies. Never expecting to see Jake again, Carly’s quiet life is turned upside down when she learns that he is the new cop in town and that he refuses to let their night of passion remain in the past.
The first half of the book is completely captivating as Carly lives out her secret fantasy and then comes face to face with the man who played a leading role in it. The chemistry between Carly and Jake sizzles on the pages and their clash of wills leads to some incredibly steamy scenes.
Unfortunately, the book takes a turn for the worse at the halfway mark when Jake’s angst raises its ugly head. It does not bode well for a story when the alpha male turns into a quivering mess and his sexual hangups overshadow those of the damaged heroine.
The menage trope is usually one that I dislike as it is difficult for me to believe that an alpha male who loves the heroine would accept her having sex with another man. However, the initial encounter in this book is more plausible as Carly and Jake are strangers. The same cannot be said for the second encounter, which epitomizes everything that irritates me with this theme as. A hero who behaves in this way loses all of his appeal and Jake is no exception.
All in all, Carly and Jake’s romance has potential despite the problematic elements and Lacey Alexander is very skilled at writing an incredibly HOT sex scene.

Small town carpenter Carley meets dirty talking cop Jake is an out of town bar when she is masquerading as a more sexually adventurous version of herself. They have a pretty hot threesome then she sneaks off back to her boring smalltown life only to come face to face with Jake again when he takes the job as local cop.
This book was seriously smutty. I think I failed to read the blurb or think about it much. I downloaded the audiobook version and I must say it was a total surprise to me when it got hot n heavy so quickly.
Holy moly!
Conversely it also dealt with the more serious subject of sexual abuse. Not something I really ever want to read about hence I’ve dropped a star, but it was gripping and I thought the author handled it really well. I didn’t find the story tear-jerkingly sad, it was more interesting and reflective.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Carley’s inner musings on why she felt like she did and how she basically went on a journey of self-discovery. It was deeper than I expect from what is basically pure erotica.
And in case I failed to mention it. The hot scenes were HOT. It’s the first erotic novel I have ever listened to the audiobook of and I think I must have blushed through 85% of it. The narrator was surprisingly enthusiastic!
