Vividly written, hard to put down and you can’t help but like Eve, Charlie and Finn’s characters, relationships and bravery.

I learned a lot more about WWI, and women’s roles during that war. The book had heartbreakingly loveable characters, and a keep you guessing story.

Updates and increased the stats because I’m still thinking about it over 20 days later!

So good, but so, so heavy. I almost feel like this should be mandatory reading because I learned so much about WW 1 and undercover spy networks than ever before. To think that there were female spies in WW 1 - WOW! But it’s heavy. Incredible, but heavy and real. Absolutely worth reading, one of my favorite books I’ve read, but the horrors that these women have seen has been giving me nightmares.

My favorite genre in the last few years is Historical Fiction. I’m grateful for how much effort authors put into making their plots coincide perfectly with history. Ex; some names/characters are real while others are for the plot and places and events are real. It takes the book to another level. I find myself reading about places and real people who gave their lives to the 1st and 2nd WW. I find a sense of gratitude in this.

As for the Alice Network, it is a beautiful book. Very well written and engaging. Grasse, France in now on my list to visit and the “Queen of Spies in WW1” is on my list to read about. I’m also so happy there is a happy ending to this story. The characters find love and family within each other. They also find forgiveness in themselves and learn how to grieve.

I definitely recommend reading this book!

My second Kate Quinn, and I look forward to reading more (though maybe stepping away from the World Wars - not my favorite setting). Like the Rose Code, I learned something new and interesting from history, in this case about the role of female spies in WW1. However, this had a number of particularly gutting, hard to read scenes. My favorite part was the found family that developed between Charlie, Finn, and Eve. I love the ending Eve finds for herself.
