I love a friends to lovers story and this sure was a good one! I loved the characters. Max is just dreamy. You can't go wrong with a book that has pets. How Max gets his will melt your heart and wish you had a Max in your life. This book had the heart, humor, and heat. A great combination that made it hard to put this one down. The epilogue was beautiful and it ended where it started.Very fitting for these two.

I'm always attracted to a book cover with a man and a dog. I am a major dog lover, and seeing a man with a dog in swoon-worthy. What the blurb on goodreads doesn't tell you is how Max came to get the dog, which is an even better story (which I won't spoil).
Max and Rosie have been best friends forever. I firmly believe men and women cannot be best friends and be single. There is always a sexual tension there, but that is just my opinion. Pretty much every person in their lives know they will end up together, but it takes Max seeing Rosie naked through a skylight when fixing her house to get the ball into motion.
Max was a total alpha male. As soon as he and Rosie got together, he took over. He believed it was his job to protect her. Shortly after, Max had an incident with his house and needed a place to stay, so he stayed with Rosie. Rosie inherited a cat from her grandmother (along with her fixer-upper), and her cat, Julia Caesar (love that name) does not like Max's dog, Cupcake. At all. The back and forth about the dog and cat was actually quite funny. Made the book better.
Rosie was a strong character, and I really liked her. One thing I would point out, not as a criticism but more of an observation, is the following:
- Rosie didn't seem to have any friends other than Max (none were mentioned)
- Max only had one friend, Fletcher (who I'm sure the next book will be about)
- Neither Max nor Rosie spoke of any living relatives, which seemed very strange to me
- I loved that this book was told in both Rosie and Max's POV. Makes the book so much better. I would recommend this cute little Kindle Unlimited find.

I enjoyed this funny/sexy modern romance. As a dog lover, I totally feel in love with how Max's heart was stolen by a chihuahua. So this story had all the makings for things I like in a trashy romance. Wasn't too drama/angst filled, was a sweet and hot story of two friends finding each other.

5+++++++ stars! This book took my breath away. Got me from page 1. I loved everything about Max & Rosie. This book was hot and steamy, yet sexy and sweet. It's about discovering love that's been right in front of your face. It's about those feelings when you realize that you love someone.
Max says it best --> "It was because of her. Because for the first time, things were starting to make sense. My place in everything made sense. She made sense of the world for me."
You could feel every sentiment of this statement throughout this book. It was so skillfully written that every word conveyed what was going on between Rosie and Max's relationship. These two were like all of the best combinations - peanut butter & jelly, salt & pepper, gin & tonic. They were always meant to be and you get to watch them figure that out in this book. Add in a grumpy cat and a cute lost dog and there is SO MUCH GOOD in this story. It brought out all of the best emotions. I laughed and cried.

4 Good CROWNS
I always enjoy a Nicola Rendell book. They are heavy on the steam, filled with fun heroines and dominate alpha heroes, and great romances. So Good, while having a lighter and easy going tone, still has all of these qualities.
Max is the alpha hero readers have come to expect from this writer, dominate in the bedroom, super protective, and romantic with his lady. Max is all of this and more. His love of and devotion to Rosie is the stuff of dreams. Readers will love the way he puts her first and tries to make her dreams come true. Plus, seeing this man with cupcakes is just about as cute as seeing any romance hero with a baby.
Rosie has a dreamer quality to her character. Her antics with the cat are hilarious, and her devotion to her friendship with Max is great. Readers will find her hesitancy to be frustrating, yet understandable. Ultimately, thought, she doesn't what is needed.
The plot of So Good is very light and fun, driven by the friends to lovers trope story line. Nicola Rendell adds her flair with the steamy and dominate scenes between the main characters. Adding to the light feel of the novel is a uncomplicated conflict that is resolved easily. The ending is great, and the nod to the beginning of the novel is perfect.
So Good is a deviation from the expected romance of this author. Even with the the variation, readers still get a romance that will have them entertained from page one.

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes in contemporary romance and So Good had the makings of an epic read. Unfortunately, there were parts of this story that didn't seem believable.
The first third of the book, when Max and Rosie are finally discovering their more-than-friends feelings for one another, I was on board a million percent. The push and pull between deciding whether they should take that leap to the next level or remain friends was classic romance at its best.
As the story progressed, I was disappointed by the direction of the storytelling. At times it was more tell than show. While some of the inner dialogue of the two main characters was humorous and charming, it just didn't sparkle when they interacted with each other.
By the end of the story, when obstacles were being thrown at them, it felt like each character was deciding what was best for their relationship without actually communicating with the other. Snap decisions and hasty judgement added unnecessary drama. In fact, one of the biggest obstacles seemed a bit unrealistic... but what do I know? I won't be more specific to avoid spoilers.
It wasnt what I was expecting or hoping for in a friends-to-lovers story, but it was entertaining enough to recommend if you want something light and easy to read.

What happens when the friend-goggles slip off and you suddenly see the girl you've been best friends with since middle school as a woman—a funny, endearing, beautiful, sexy, siren of a woman? When every sign in the universe is pushing you to Go on! Do it! When SHE suddenly looks at YOU like you hung the moon and glittered the stars and you’re the sexiest beast ever and she wants a huge bite of you? You let it happen, naturally! And that’s just how this best friends to lovers story unfolds, plays out, and is So Good!
Let me tell you, I fell hard and fast for Max and Rosie. Fast & hard! Max’s raw sex appeal, his heartfelt, all-consuming feelings for Rosie … swoon times ten thousand! Romeo has nothing on this guy! The naughty things he says! The Oh, My! things he does! And Rosie is the perfect girl for Max—she’s hilarious, quirky, talented, and blissfully unaware of her beauty.
I don’t think I’ve read anything as gorgeous, as moving, as sensual and downright sexy as the chemistry pulsing between Max and Rosie. And when these two finally get their hands on each other … hotter than a jalapeño’s armpit!
Nicola Rendell’s writing is pretty damn near perfection, and with every book I love her a little more. Her writing transports you into the story with every beautiful phrase, every scene, and some of the best damn dialogue out there. Add in one adorable Cupcake—the fact that Max shamelessly allows her to wrap him around her little paw had me dying from the cuteness!—and a sassy, grumpy, Mae West of a cat and this awesomely entertaining story is one you’ll want to read more than once.
So Good is a ten star triumph!

Nicola Rendell has become one of my new favorite authors of 2017. Pretty much every book I've read of hers, I've LOVED.
So Good is SOOOOO GOOD, I absolutely adored this book and its characters. Max and Rosie were such an incredible couple and I really enjoyed this friends to lovers romance.
Sometimes, a friends to lovers story can get bogged down in a lot of hemming and hawing by the MCs and frankly all we really want is to see the couple together. While there is some of that, it's completely natural and not too OTT.
I really love the way Rendell writes her male MCs, especially, Max. He is definitely an alpha and he adores Rosie so very much, once they let loose on their feelings for each other, we really get to see Max go full alpha and I LOVED IT. (And HOLY CRAP, the sexytimes were CRAZY HOT.)
Okay, so I've babbled on and on about how much I love Nicola Rendell but I simply cannot help myself. Rendell has a spot on my auto read and auto buy lists and I cannot wait to read more from her!

I'm 30% in, and I think I'm going to DNF it. This is the first book I read by this author, and I'm now starting to wonder if she's actually a man with a woman's pen name. The book just seems dominated by the male gaze to me. For example, the first scene where the hero sees the heroine naked is completely implausible. She's apparently getting changed in the middle of the day from a dress into another dress, and she even changes her underwear and bra — for no reason — except that it allows the hero to see her totally naked. Then she just comes downstairs and makes the hero a sandwich and then does the dishes. If she had been changing for a date, I would have believed it, but her date was hours later and after washing dishes so it made no sense.
Also the way the hero first lets her know he wants her sexually mostly involves him pressing his hard-on against her as his, like, opening salvo. The whole first sex scene felt driven by his desire, and her desire was just a passenger. Add to the fact that she was too drunk to drive and got a hangover the next day — to me this was a case of lousy consent practices. And they didn't use a condom. And she regretted it the next day.
I started the book because it was on a list of romances with cinnamon roll heros from an author whose work I adore. But he is not the kind of cinnamon roll hero I'm looking for.

Who are Max and Rosie? What is Max doing up on Rosie's roof? What happens while he is up there? How does what happened change things between Max and Rosie? What does it change? When Rosie is out on a date, and she sees Max sitting at the other end of the bar, soaking wet, what transpires is nothing short of funny. Who or what is Cupcake? How did Cupcake get her name? Where did Max rescue her from? What does Rosie think of Cupcake? How does Rosie deal with the other woman in Max's life? Who is Julia? What happens when Julia meets Cupcake? When Max tells Rosie he is helping her fix up her house and she is not going to argue about it basically, I couldn't help but to have a nice good belly laugh over it. Their trip to Home Depot was funny for me as all get out. When Max tells Rosie to get some snail work done and he will replace the garbage disposal, life really gets interesting at Rosie's house. You're going to have to see what the answers to these questions are as well as many more. Enjoy the read. I sure did!
