This book may not be everyone’s speed, but for me, it’s a a fantastic read. The story is captivating and Less feels like a real person, regaling readers with the stories from his trip around the world.

A wonderful book about an awful gay.

I was not expecting the narrator to be Freddy. That was a major plot twist for me, I feel like I have to reread the book now that I know that.

Beyond brilliant! I'll be coming back to this one so many times for the beauty of Greer's writing and a heartwarming story artfully told.

It made me laugh out loud several times, and made me want to travel.

I read this as part of the Modern Mrs. Darcy 2018 book challenge as a "book nominated for an award in 2018." It was an incredibly quick read, which kept me going, even though my initial impression of the book was that it would be incredibly arch and a little too distant from the main character. It ended up having much more heart than I was expecting, and I liked it much more. Didn't realize until after the fact that Greer had written another book I also read and quite liked.

I really liked the concept but definitely failed expectations in execution. It was a really hard read cuz there weren't very high stakes and it was pretty confusing to understand. Definitely not gonna be on my top reads of this year - but I am excited to delve into more queer character reads!

I think this is a book I need to reread in about a decade - I just feel like it will resonate more at an older age. There are some really delightful and funny parts of this book, but others dragged for me.

This book was pleasant, but slow. I find that authors writing about authors can get a little flowery and caught-up in pretty sentences rather than story telling. This book was true to that form. It was a little inception-ey in that way. It was a story written by an male author who lives in San Francisco/Tuscany about a male author who lives in SF and travels to other countries, who himself writes about a male who lives in SF.

Too boring, hard to follow, not relatable
