An interesting shifter read about dragons that'll take you on a journey like no other. It's well written with a great storyline. There's plenty of action and drama. It has a plot that will grip you, twisting and turning the outcome of the story until the very end.

3.3 stars.
This was really disappointing, honestly.
I loved the humor, and banter, and how badass the FMC is.
And I really liked the interactions she had with her ‘flight’.
But the authors note at the beginning said that the plot line for characters in this book would finish at the end even if there was an opening for things to continue with the other characters in the next book.
And that’s just not even remotely true.
Yes. They shifted.
But the romance part of this romance was absolute shit. I was skimming pages pretty hard by the last third of the book.
We got a total of 4 steamy scenes. The first was from outside and we only saw a tiny snippet as they walked in on them.
The second was vague as shit and completely anticlimactic.
The third was the only ok one and it was still mediocre at best.
And the last one was just a tactic to get out of a mess and didn’t go anywhere.
And all but the last one happened with 2/3 of the guys.
So fucking frustrating.

I think I’m done with this author honestly.
I just don’t like big chunks of her books for a couple reasons so it seems like it’s just not worth it, for me.

A dragon shifter romance. For dragons there are very few females left. And Ezra is one of them. But for them to gain their ability to shift into dragons they must mate. The females pick their mates but what happens when they don’t want that. Ezra is a kickass type of female. And no male is likely to compare to her abilities. She also has four brothers that would rather jail her than see her date. So they gets dangerous but also quite funny. Just expect anything is this romance adventure.

This book was awesome! Ezra was a badass, no doubt! She kicked her mates' behinds more than once, and she is not afraid to take on a challenge. Her mates are adorable even though they try to act tough, and her brothers are the triplets and Elias are wow. No really, I'm speechless when I need to talk about them. They are protective but they don't pull punches when they need to train her. They got her back and they won't let anyone harm her, although they really try to protect her too much sometimes.
I so need to read the next book ASAP.

I don't know if I just have a bad day today, if not finishing this book right away was a mistake or if the book was just not what I hoped. However, now I finished this book I most of all feel there was a lot of potential and there were some really awesome moments, but I think that especially considering the pacing this book could have been better.

The first half of the book, the half where our heroine is meeting with the three guys who will later become her mates, is actually quite good. The first chapter is exciting and gives us a clear feel of our main character and who she is and I like how information is released quite slowly and never in an info-dump kind of way. It feels very natural and because we don't get that much information I also grew more and more curious about the world this story took place in.

I also really liked how the click between her and her mates was set up. We get to see them meeting, we get to see what makes them different from the other males, we get to see why our heroine clicks with them and what she sees in them. And, we discover that they have quite interesting backstories. They have been through a lot and I was really curious to discover what they had been through and what was actually happening and going on.

However, then the second half of the book happens and all of a sudden things move at lightning speed. Too fast, probably. Sometimes I read something and then read the next alinea and wondered how all that had happened in the previous alinea. I was losing track of what they were doing and how things were done or how things worked. The lack of info dumps was positive for the first half, but negative for the second half.

If the second half had been a little slower and the action packed finale a little more detailed, I might have liked it more. However, the first half of the book is still very much worth it.

This book was utterly amazing I loved the FMC she was witty, tough, and hilarious.
The plot was amazing and had me hooked from the start.
I loved that the FMC was not a damsel in distress but had a more Lara croft vibe going on.
The guys are just as amazing and I love how they instantly aim to protect the Female even before they start any form of a relationship.
The FMC brothers are brilliant and hilarious throughout this book and I can't wait for the book to come out.

This is probably a good book my mind just kept wandering away from it. I was just having a hard time focusing on a single book the last week and now I just don't want to try picking it up again for now.

Twenty-three years of being bored out of my mind, and now it’s been a whirlwind of excitement in just a couple of days. Boy, is this an understatement!

Our badass FMC, Ezra, is one of the very last female dragon shifters in the land. She was very sheltered from the outside world, by her overprotective brothers. They train her, not only for gauntlet matches, but also so she can protect herself. When she reaches her age of maturity (24), she ends up attacting all sorts of trouble. She ends up enlisting her out-of-town gauntlet rivals to act as bodyguards. What she also gained was three mates.

J. Kearston is easily becoming one of my favorite authors. Everything from the action, humor (and few Harry Potter references), to the characters, flows very smoothly. This was highly entertaining and I really enjoyed this story!

I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review

I adore J. Kearston’s books. Forged from the Ashes is a standalone novel starting off a series about dragons. Here we meet Ezra, and I love that she doesn’t have a typical female name. She is protected by her older triplet brothers, and she cares for her younger brother. When Caius, Vyrian, and Soren come in to town, she realizes she is paying attention to males other than her family for the first time.

Secrets are revealed and trials put in to place. Ezra must make her choice on mates or be hunted when she reaches maturity. Being a rare unmated female dragon puts a mighty big target on her back.

The steam is slow burn but fits well with the story. As her story wraps up at the end, I think things progress exactly as needed by the completion of the book.

Only one book?

I enjoyed the book but I am very disappointed it ends on a cliffhanger and is somehow supposed to be a stand alone. That is confusing and disappoin ring unfortunately.
